While this doesn’t sound difficult, I have to say that it isn’t the easiest thing to do and is very time consuming. And, it can be very difficult for small business. It’s almost as if the small business owner needs to become well educated in SEO/SEM in order to be competitive as he/she will most likely not be able to afford professional help. In my opinion, it just makes it that much harder for the little guy.

    Thanks for sharing this post.

  • Yes, every business realizes the importance of dominating their sector and appearing on the first page for their main keywords. For some they have the budget and can do it on a monthly basis, others i.e. the little guy might get up there for a month then ease off and lose his place. SEO is a continuous process, adwords can be good for short-term marketing, but too expensive in the long run.

  • This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

I need to do some serious promotion for an online directory. It is more marketing than SEO.

  • Keep up the good work!

  • Great post! To be honest SEO, marketing and online business in general is as important as it’s ever been.

  • I had yet to think about the evidently simple ways the big G thinks. The truth of the matter is that while Search Engines crawls your page countless times, it takes a tonne of work on your part in order to get a site to become intriguing to the big G. This adds to my knowledge of SEO.
